Per quest’edizione, Birdmen è media-partner del Pentedattilo film Festival, il festival internazionale di cortometraggi che si svolge a Pentedattilo (Reggio Calabria) dal 7 all’11 dicembre. Ecco le nostre recensioni in anteprima. La Redazione, inoltre, assegnerà il Premio speciale Birdmen al miglior cortometraggio d’animazione e al miglior cortometraggio live action.

La Wendland è una regione della Germania che non esiste, almeno non ufficialmente e un po’ come la nostra Padania, è vera solo nel cuore di chi ci vive. Ma il cuore di Heiner (Uwe Bohm) è malato e non solo dal punto di vista clinico. La sua è una malattia che intasa la mente e obnubila il giudizio e manifesta gli stessi sintomi della convinzione religiosa. Ci vorrà un altro membro della famiglia, sua figlia Lea (Leonie Rainer), altrettanto convinta ma di ragioni opposte al padre, per persuadere Heiner che per salvare il cuore è necessario prima di tutto cambiarlo e questo richiede un cambio di mentalità. Aloha (nome completo “Aloha in Wendland”) è un simpatico viaggio nei pregiudizi del tedesco liberale fatto di gag gustosissime e sorprendenti colpi di scena nella quale la regista Charlotte A. Rofles non risparmia nessuna stoccata provocatoria che i suoi venti minuti di durata le consentono. Ecco allora una spettacolare Deborah Kaufmann (la madre di Lea) che rivestita splendidamente di un guscio hippie neo-liberal, si rivelerà ironicamente sottomessa a un modo di vivere malsano e più conservatore di quanto lei stessa non voglia ammettere. Aloha è una sintesi perfetta dello scontro tra due generazioni di europei liberali: i più vecchi in una costante fuga da una società che non si sono mai sforzati di capire, i secondi abbandonati dai primi a lottare per un progresso troppe volte bistrattato. Aloha è un film divertente e che fa riflettere e che gioca con la durezza delle nostre fragili convinzioni ed esalta la potenza della gentilezza.

Wendland is a region of Germany that doesn’t exist, at least not officially and just like italian Padania, is true only in the heart of those who live there. But Heiner‘s heart (Uwe Bohm) is sick and not just from a clinical point of view. His disease obstructs the mind and obnubilates the judgment and manifests the same symptoms of the religious belief. It will take another member of the family, her daughter Lea (Leonie Rainer), convinced herself but of opposing reasons to her father, to persuade Heiner that to save his heart is necessary first of all to change it and this requires a change of mentality. Aloha (full title “Aloha in Wendland“) is a nice journey into the prejudices of the liberal German made of tasty gags and amazing twists in which director Charlotte A. Rofles does not save any provocative stock that her twenty minutes of time allow her. Here is, for instance, a spectacular Deborah Kaufmann (Lea’s mother) who, beautifully dressed in a neo-liberal hippie shell, is ironically subjected to an unhealthy and more conservative way of life than she doesn’t want to admit. Aloha is a perfect synthesis of the clash between two generations of liberal Europeans: the oldest in a constant escape from a society that have never tried to understand, the second abandoned by the former to fight for a progress to many times mistreated. Aloha is a funny and thoughtful movie and plays with the hardness of our fragile convictions and exalts the power of kindness.
